How much area does Wet & Forget 2L cover?

Every 2 litre pack yields 12 litres of product to spray. Using a garden sprayer or one of our Thrust One Sprayers you will get coverage of between 20 - 60 square metres. Some surfaces e.g. painted surfaces will use less but porous surfaces readily absorb the product and therefore coverage could be in the range of 20-30sq m.

How much area does Wet & Forget 5L cover?

Every 5 litre pack yields 30 litres of product to spray. Using a garden sprayer or one of our Thrust One Sprayers you will get coverage of between 100 - 300 square metres. Some surfaces e.g. painted surfaces will use less but porous surfaces readily absorb the product and therefore coverage could be in the range of 100-150sq m.

Can I change the specified ratios given in the instructions?

Yes. For instance if the contamination is extreme, increase the strength for a quicker reaction. However, if you have cleaned the surface previously with Wet & Forget and you want to give it just a maintenance spray, you can decrease the strength if the contamination is light. The cleaning process will still be as effective.

What outdoor surfaces can Wet & Forget be used on?

Wet & Forget can be used on an extensive range of outdoor surfaces including tarmac, concrete, decking, roof tiles, Artificial Grass, Astroturf, bowling greens, bricks and paving, canvas tents, caravans, static caravans, caravan awnings, motorhomes, conservatories, fibreglass boats, greenhouses, golf greens, limestone, sandstone, marble, outdoor furniture, outdoor pots, outdoor painted surfaces, pool surrounds, shade sails, slate, solar panels, tennis courts, yacht sails.

Should I sweep or wash the surface before applying Wet & Forget?

Ideally, remove any excess debris. We don’t recommend washing the surface prior to application as Wet & Forget must be applied to a dry surface.

When is the best time to apply the product?

On a cool dry windless day, when no rain is expected for 4-5 hours. Often the evening is best when evaporation of the product is minimal. This will ensure that the surface to be treated stays wet with Wet & Forget for an extended period.

Can I paint or stain over Wet & Forget?

Once the surface is clean and dry, you can paint or stain over Wet & Forget. Wet & Forget is great for extending the life of the painted surface as it not only removes moss, mould, lichen and algae, but also the surfactant action helps remove dirt and other residue that could cause fading or chipped paint.

Spraying your outdoor house surfaces annually with Wet & Forget will extend the life of your paint and keep paving looking fresh and new.

How soon after applying Wet & Forget can I start painting?

Thoroughly saturate the surface with Wet & Forget on a cool, dry day. Late in the day is best. Leave the growth to start decomposing for 2-3 weeks (the longer the better!) then prior to painting or staining, gently pressure wash the surface - growth, dirt and residue will come off faster and easier. The surface will also be sterile reducing possible contamination of the new paint with algae and fungi.

Do I have to use it all at once?

No, Wet & Forget is fine if left in the spray container as it does not deteriorate or go off when it has been diluted. Plus it will not damage your garden sprayer as the product is not corrosive.

Will it affect my pets?

Please follow all on pack advice for pet safety. Although Wet & Forget doesn’t contain bleach or ammonia we recommend keeping your animals off the treated surface until it is dry, to ensure they don't ingest any of the product. If they accidentally walk or sit in the product wash their feet and bottoms with fresh water as a precaution. If ingestion has occurred, seek medical advice.

Will it damage my plants?

Not unless you are directly spraying it onto the plants. If you accidentally do this, then rinse the plants down with water from the hose, or better still, protect them with paper or plastic to avoid overspray.

How long is Wet & Forget's shelf life?

Wet & Forget has an unlimited shelf life so it will last forever in its container! Natural light does not damage the efficiency of the product. For safety, always keep the cap on tightly and the container out of reach of children.

How long does Wet & Forget take to work?

How long Wet & Forget takes to work is totally dependent on the intensity of the contamination of mould, algae or lichen. For mild contaminations, results can be seen in days. For more stubborn infestations Wet & Forget can take approximately 2-3 months to see improvements.

In very severe cases of contamination it may take 6-12 months to work. The good news is that when Wet & Forget is used again the following season, the clean up results will occur within weeks!

Will it remove the slime off my timber decks?

Most definitely! But if your deck is older and has never been cleaned, it may be noticeably blackened with the contamination. In this case, it would be advantageous to wait a month after the application of Wet & Forget and give the area a light brush with a broom or scrubbing brush with warm water to remove it. The good news is that you should only have to do this once and then the maintenance becomes so easy.

Can I use Wet & Forget to get moss out of my garden grass?

Absolutely! To remove moss on grass first water the infected area lightly being sure not to saturate the moss. Do this late in the day when the sun is low so that evaporation is kept to a minimum. At worst you may get slight burning on the grass but it will recover very quickly.

Dilute the solution using 7 parts water to 1 part Wet & Forget formula and spot spray the moss. It may take a couple of goes until you have the contaminated areas covered. Give Wet & Forget some time to tackle the moss and then rake the dead moss out.

To help your grass recover from the moss infestation provide the area with garden lime to change the ph levels. If it's early spring or autumn, overseeding and fertilising should do the trick.

How much water should I add to Wet & Forget before application?

Generally, for most applications you want to get a good mix between water and Wet & Forget. A ratio of 5 parts water to 1 part Wet and Forget will usually suffice.

How do I apply Wet and Forget to a surface?

When applying Wet and Forget it’s important to get an even coating on your desired surface. Try and use a garden sprayer (or one of our Thrust One Sprayer models) to ensure you’re getting a good coating every time.

When should I apply Wet and Forget to a surface?

If you are applying Wet and Forget to an outdoor surface such as a patio, deck or driveway, always do so in dry conditions. Applying the solution in warm, dry weather when it hasn’t rained for several days. If it rains 4-5 hours after you apply the Wet and Forget, you will need to reapply once it is dry again.

How often does Wet and Forget need to be applied to surfaces?

Depending on how porous the surface is, you may need to apply Wet and Forget more often. It’s worth checking the surface for any signs of regrowth regularly, especially during the wetter, colder months. For most applications, using wet and forget once per year should suffice.

What are the benefits of using Wet & Forget?

The major advantage of using Wet and Forget is the fact that it will not damage the surface you are applying it to. Common cleaners containing bleach can often damage surfaces, but Wet and Forget contains no bleach, ammonia or harmful chemicals and therefore won’t damage surface areas. It is very fast to apply, all you have to do is wet the surface and forget it!

In comparison to harsh jet washers, which can leave marks or even take chunks out of softer surfaces, the application of Wet & Forget is gentler so will not damage surfaces.

Can I use Wet and Forget to clean School or University facilities?

Wet & Forget is often used by schools, colleges and universities to keep their exteriors, paths and outdoor facilities clean. Wet & Forget’s soft chemical formula means that old buildings won’t be harmed in the cleaning process.

Will Wet & Forget damage my concrete, decking or paths?

On first application Wet & Forget may turn concrete an orangey brown colour. This reaction is completely normal and shows that Wet & Forget is doing its job! The discoloration will dissipate over a short period of time and is not permanent or harmful.

DILUTION: Mix 1 part Wet & Forget to 5 parts water. 1 litre of concentrate when diluted treats 20-60 square metres of surface.

NOTE:This is a guide only and strength may be increased if contamination is heavy. Please ensure you wear eye protection and rubber gloves when using this product.

APPLICATION: Using either a Wet & Forget Sprayer or watering can, thoroughly saturate the dry surface to be treated with the Wet & Forget mixture (do not hose first) so that maximum benefit is achieved.

Wet & Forget is best applied on overcast dry conditions to avoid evaporation. Do not apply if rain is expected within 4-5 hours. A second application 1-2 months after the first, may also assist in treating persistent contamination. Keep away from treated surfaces until dry. Test spray a small area for colour change if spraying near dark powder coated aluminium & joinery.
